Abstract:

Contains notebooks, class notes, sketchbooks, correspondence, files, miscellany, clippings, publications, certificates, sketches, a scrapbook, journals, etc. of Esther and Fenner Fuller. Most of the text materials appear to be connected to Esther Fuller with numerous references to her husband Fenner Fuller and their restaurant, Fenner Fuller's. Includes one bound journal of Esther Fuller with handwritten entries dated from December 26, 1945 to 1974. Topics covered in the material include art, cooking, museums, art galleries, artists, architecture, the Armenian-American community, Familial Mediterranean fever (i.e., periodic peritonitis), etc. Also includes two audiocassettes, one of which is a recording of Esther Fuller's memorial service at Lakeside Baptist Church on October 20, 1980.

Esther Torosian Fuller (November 5, 1902-October 10,1980), also known as Esther Fenner Fuller, was an accomplished Armenian-American painter, ceramics artist, and a well-known patron of the arts in Oakland, California, particularly of the Oakland Art Museum. She served on the Oakland Library and Museum Commision for six years from 1957 to 1963.
Fenner Adolphus Chamberlain Fuller (January 13, 1902-April 30, 1964) was the husband of Esther Torosian Fuller and owner of Fenner Fuller's, a restaurant that also served as an informal art gallery located in the Lake Merritt area of Oakland, California.
